Shearling Coat Care.

Don’t place by a fire or other high heat source. Heat can dry out the natural oils in the hides. Don’t wash your shearling coat or jacket in a washing machine or put in a dryer. When trying to find a dry cleaner, ensure that they know the way to correctly clean a shearling coat.
The method must include putting the natural oils into the hides. Without doing this process, the hides will dry out and the coat will be ruined. Don’t employ a wire hanger that is going to put “pokies” in the shoulders and do not hang it up on a knob for extended periods. Once more technology has come to our help with the discovery of new materials. The most crucial area of improvement is the functionality of these new products. Now it is at the point at which there’s a standard for waterproofing that is measured by how many centimeters of water can rest on top of the material before leaking thru. For instance a jacket should have all of its seams sealed with a waterproof tape, the zipper should be covered, the inner layer must not absorb water and the complete jacket should be made from waterproof materials not matter what the section is.
The following area to consider is wind proofing. It’ll give you a layer of protection without changing the color or finish.
Never put them in the attic or basement for storeage.
